Professor Lalith Gamage is the Deputy Chairman of the Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management and the visionary founder of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), where he serves as Vice Chancellor and CEO. An Affiliate Professor at the University of British Columbia, he received the TOYP Award for Academic Leadership in 2000.
He has significantly contributed to Sri Lanka’s IT sector, serving as Chairman of ICTA, the Lanka Software Foundation, the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies, and the ICT Cluster. He also led the establishment of Conceptnursery, the country’s first technology incubator, which produced numerous successful startups.
Professor Gamage is the Founding President of SLANSHEI and a Board Member of SLASSCOM. An Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering graduate of the University of Moratuwa with a PhD from the University of British Columbia, his research spans AI, Robotics, Computer Vision, and Evolutionary Computing. He was named Most Outstanding ICT Contributor of the Year at the National ICT Awards 2020.
