Story of CAHM

The Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management (CAHM) was born from a dream, a dream envisioned by Mr. Errol Weerasinghe, a visionary leader who believed that Sri Lanka’s natural warmth, hospitality, and talent deserved a global stage. He saw an opportunity to transform the lives of young Sri Lankans by creating pathways to the world’s finest hospitality careers right here at home.

With this powerful vision, he sought a partner that shared his passion for excellence and innovation in education. That journey led to Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), Sri Lanka’s leading non-state higher education institute, renowned for its commitment to academic integrity and global standards. Together, they set out to build something extraordinary; a world class academy dedicated to hospitality, foods, tourism, and events.

But Mr. Weerasinghe’s vision did not stop there. To truly elevate Sri Lanka’s hospitality education to international heights, CAHM needed a global partner, one that would bring not just prestige, but practical, world recognised expertise. This pursuit led to a landmark collaboration with William Angliss Institute in Australia, the number one specialist training provider in hospitality, foods, tourism, and events, with over 85 years of global experience.

In 2012, through a shared belief in quality, professionalism, and opportunity, CAHM became the exclusive partner in Sri Lanka to offer William Angliss Institute courses. This exclusive partnership marked a turning point in the country’s education landscape, bringing Australian standard vocational training, internationally recognised qualifications, and industry-driven curricula to Sri Lankan students.

Today, CAHM stands as a symbol of global collaboration and Sri Lankan pride, nurturing students to become confident, skilled professionals ready to excel in luxury hotels, resorts, airlines, and tourism organisations across the world. Our training across classrooms, kitchens, café, bar, restaurant and lobby reflect the original vision to empower young Sri Lankans with the skills, confidence and global mindset to excel in hospitality.

At CAHM, we do not just teach hospitality – we create global leaders with Sri Lankan warmth.
