Entry Requirements for International Students
At CAHM, we welcome students from diverse educational backgrounds who are passionate about Hospitality, Food, Tourism and Events. Entry requirements ensure you have the foundation to succeed in our programs.
Academic Requirements
Certificate III & Diploma Programs:
- Minimum of 5 passes in O/L examinations, including English
(Local O/Ls, London O/Ls, Edexcel, Pearson, or equivalent)
English Language Requirements
All programs are delivered in English. Students must demonstrate proficiency through:
- IELTS Academic overall band score of 5.5 (or equivalent)
- Students without formal test scores but with prior English medium education may be assessed through CAHM’s internal English placement evaluation and PTR (Pre-Training Review)
Age Requirements
Applicants must be 18 years or older at the time of enrolment.
Additional Program Requirements
- Commitment to practical classes, assessments, and compliance with food safety standards
- A minimum of 80% attendance is mandatory. Falling below this threshold may result in serious academic consequences, including the rejection of student visa applications by immigration authorities.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Will I be guided on finding accommodation upon my arrival?
Yes. You would be provided with options to suit your budget and lifestyle. You have the option of making the final selection. Also, you are free to find your personal accommodation.
2. When do I need to arrive at CAHM?
You should arrive in Sri Lanka two weeks prior to commencement of the Orientation Program
3. When do I pay the semester fee?
Semester payment should be paid in full either before your arrival or one week after your arrival in Sri Lanka.
4. How do I obtain Visa to continue to study in Sri Lanka?
Initially you would enter Sri Lanka on an entry visa. A period of thirty days from the date of arrival to Sri Lanka will be endorsed on your passport by the officials of the Sri Lanka Department of Immigration and Emigration. Within this period your entry visa will be converted to Resident Visa in order for you to continue your studies at CAHM.
5. How do I apply for Resident Visa?
You will be facilitated in the process of applying for Resident Visa. This procedure will be handled by CAHM officials in the International Office
6. Will my Resident Visa have to be renewed every year?
Yes. It will be renewed every year subject to your academic performance at CAHM
7. Am I allowed to work part time while studying?
No. As per the regulations by the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Sri Lanka.
